NICOLAS EATERY

What does a restaurant in a mall look like in Beverly Hills? Well, it's certainly not your average food court joint. Nicolas Eatery serves up top notch cuisine in a casual but refined atmosphere.

Inheriting its roots from the restaurant's first iteration in Malibu, and further back from the shared French and Vietnamese roots of the owners and chef, Nicolas Eatery brings a rich dining experience to the palettes of shoppers who come looking for a quick bite and respite from their shopping and leave pleasantly surprised at being treated to a delicious meal.
To match this atmosphere we have played upon design themes that make high tag shoppers in Beverly Hills feel they are in good hands as they sit down to find they are about to enjoy a meal at the same quality as the well known brands that this restaurant calls its neighbors are known for.
BRINGING PLACE ONTO THE PAGE
How i brought the chic bistro atmosphere of nicolas eatery from their dining room and onto their menu

Atop the bar is a beautifully backlit crown depicting the restaurant's logo. I recreated this as the header of the menu so that guests are greeted the same way on the menu as they are when walking into the restaurant.

The chalkboards that decorate the bar at Nicolas Eatery perfectly captured the balance of fun and comfort you'd find at a bar or diner with the understated yet delightful experience you'd have at an unassuming street side french bistro. The fonts I chose and the addition of hand drawn illustrations to the menu extended this feeling, as if the menu were a more permanent version of the life on those chalkboards.
